Twelve Facts about Rayen
Rayen is an American Indian but can’t get tribal status.
I am an American Indian my family on my biological father’s side are Wampanoag and English all the way through until today. My family on my mother’s side is Irish, Swedish, French, English and a little bit of Spanish in there. I can’t get tribal status because I am only 1/8 Indian according to them. I don’t understand it but there is nothing I can do about it. Not that it matters I never see my biological father’s side of the family anyway and doubt that they know I exist because of the way I was conceived.
Rayen’s mother was raped by Rayen’s father
I am a child of rape, my father was apparently a drunk that my mother knew well and thought was harmless but then he raped her. He is in jail because of this because my mother was only sixteen when she was raped. My father was twenty four at the time. I have never actually met him in person but my mother says that he wasn’t exactly a great person.
Rayen has a huge family but she looks like none of them
I was four when my step father came into the picture, he is a great guy and treats me like he does his own. I love him allot because he is the only father I have ever known. I call him dad unlike my biological father who is just the person that provided the sperm for me to be born. Peter Wyatt my step father is more of a dad to me. He and my mom have a total of seven children together. Including my fourteen year old sister they had a one night stand once. My siblings all look Irish-English with the red hair at least from my mom and my step dad. My biological father apparently has three children who are all older than I am but I do not know their names. But my younger siblings include:

Rayen has severe allergies
I am a very allergy filled girl apparently, I have a gluten and casein allergy. I can’t have dairy, or wheat in my diet at all, so everything that is made for me has to be gluten and dairy free. This also means that I need my own toaster, cooking utensils, pots, pans and all of that. I also have to have any and all hair products and any other product that I used checked for wheat or other forms of gluten. On top of that I am also severely allergic to peanuts, strawberries, and bees. So for those I always have an epipen along with me in case I would run into them. My family doesn’t eat out often because of my gluten and dairy allergy though and any time we got to my grandparents house we have to remind them that I am gluten and dairy free. My family’s home is a peanut free zone because I can break out in hives from the smallest amounts of peanut in something or end up in the hospital if I eat something with peanuts in it.
Rayen is deaf
I am completely deaf I got meningitis as a child and it caused me to lose my hearing. But I am ok with it I have learned how to cope in a world of hearing people without my hearing and don’t remember what it is like to be able to hear anyone because I was two when I lost my hearing. I know how to lip read, speak and sign so I can communicate with the world around me and when all of that doesn’t work there is always texting, pen and paper or just leaving the conversation alone for the time being. All of my siblings know how to sign and speak and have been taught to sign since the day they were born.
Rayen loves sports
I don’t love all sports only most of them, I sit around on Sundays with my family and watch football during football season. Otherwise I run track and field, swim, play basketball, run cross country, and play softball. I do all of this despite being deaf, they have had to make a few rule changes in cross country, track and swimming so I knew when to go and a few changes in basketball so I knew when the buzzers went off but otherwise I don’t need any help in playing the games.
Rayen is on the honor roll
I get good grades but it is not the only thing I do all day I am a pretty typical teenager. I like the mall, shopping, movies, and most things that other people my age like I have allot friends who are willing to modify things so that I can understand what is going on like going to a foreign movie with subtitles or going to a theater that does subtitled movies in English rather than just going to a regular movie. But I do work hard at keeping my grades up and making sure that I spend time on my homework before going out with my friends.
Rayen loves animals
I love cats, dogs, horses and pretty much all animals my dad is a veterinarian so he lets me volunteer in the animal hospital on weekends. I help feed the animals and get them out for exercise, I even have done some of the washing and prepping of animals for surgery. I kind of hope to be like him some day, I also walk dogs for a job right now just to get me a little extra cash so that I have some spending money.
Rayen loves manga
I love anime, manga, and most Japanese things actually, my bedroom is covered from ceiling to floor with anime and manga series that I like and collect. And my walls are covered with anime posters. I am a total Japan junkie really but it isn’t the only thing I read I do have interest in other books and TV shows but Manga and Anime are some of my favorites to read and watch.
Rayen can be shy
Initially in meeting new people I get nervous and worried. Mostly because people when I first meet them don’t understand that I am not able to hear what they are saying to me and will often make it hard for me. Once they understand and I am more comfortable with the way that they move their heads and or their hands when they are talking I can usually open up a little more because then I know what is going on in the conversation better.
Rayen went through a period where she was anorexic
After I turned thirteen I was a little over weight because of the pending Celiac’s diagnosis at the time. I decided to try and slim down so that I could stay on the team but I couldn’t get the weight to come off by changing my diet. So I just kind of crashed dieted for a while and quit eating. I still go to therapy for it today but it is better than it was although sometimes I feel that I still look fat but I tell myself that I am not fat because the scale and the doctors both say that I am healthy. And that it is not necessary for me to lose weight again and I talk to a therapist once a week and keep a food journal so that we can track how far I’ve come. Even though I still have good and bad days. I am however now a vegetarian and refuse to eat meat but I get my protein other ways like through eggs because I am not opposed to eggs.
Rayen is Bisexual
I like both sexes and it doesn’t really matter to me who I date, but I am still a virgin at this point and plan on staying that way until I find the man or woman I am planning on marrying someday. I am currently single and alright with it at the moment. I will remain that way until I find someone I have a crush on which is no one right now. But I am open to love so its not like it will never happen for me.
